On Track, albeit under a different name at the time, was started by the late Corrie van Wyk in 1966, and specialized in providing film facilities and film production support.
1997 saw the birth of On Track Engineering which concentrated on the design and supply of super-silent generators and low-emission power sources. These generators were supplied to both the film and general industry including game lodges, due to the fact that they ran so silently. The generator division was later restructured, remaining under the technical direction of Corrie’s son, James who was one of the original founders of the company.
In 2001, On Track Professional Film Equipment was launched. This entity continued with the supply of generators and other film equipment, power supply and lighting requirements to the film industry and over time expanded their services to include the supply of electrical systems (inverters and battery systems) to various game lodges. Once the company started to focus more on solar design and installation with less time being spent supplying technical film equipment, the name was changed to On Track Solar. On Track Solar now designs, installs and maintains solar PV systems between 5 and 120 kW in size for off-grid luxury game lodges and camps. The company has since branched out to include systems for both Commercial and Domestic use, installing these systems on site or rooftops of businesses and households in South Africa. On Track Solar is now recognized as being a leading solar company for supplying stand-alone solar PV systems to luxury lodges and camps and has built a strong reputation based on providing excellent service and quality products, at the best possible value.
On Track Electrical was formed in 2003 and in 2008 On Track Alternative Power was launched to supply electrical systems for marine, industrial and domestic markets.
